2. Authorship and Contributorship Ethics

Authorship Criteria

Authorship must be based on substantial contributions to the research and manuscript preparation, following ICMJE criteria.

Authorship Requirements
ICMJE Criteria for Authorship:
  • Substantial Contribution: Significant contribution to conception, design, execution, or interpretation
  • Drafting or Revision: Drafting the work or critically revising it
  • Final Approval: Approval of the final version to be published
  • Accountability: Agreement to be accountable for all aspects of the work

All four criteria must be met for authorship. Contributors not meeting all criteria should be acknowledged.
